“The Condominium Board should use reputable, experienced contractors and have an ARIDO registered designer like Vitorhya Shields overseeing every detail of the design & renovation process and being your guide throughout your project”

No matter the size of project, it is always a large investment for the building and its residents. It is crucial that you make the best investment and get the best value for your money. The Board should use reputable, experienced contractors and have an ARIDO registered designer like Vitorhya Shields overseeing every detail and being your guide throughout your project.

A basic condominium building renovation typically includes flooring like carpet, wall vinyl and a very minimal paint job. For these types of projects, as a starting point our interior design team at Shields and Associates present the condominium board with three options of carpet flooring. We make choices that will suit the existing design elements within the high-rise building interior.

The coordination of new carpet and new wall vinyl really modernized and brightened up the entire corridor interior of this Toronto condominium.

We consider the demographics of the building residents, the budget, and the longevity of the products to provide best value for our client needs and wants. We also consider the area of the city which relates to foot traffic and bikes, use of transit or cars, where the building is located to select the products and materials with appropriate maintenance conditions. At the same time, we present wall vinyls to suit the carpeting creating mini packages ready for consideration. From there we narrow down the selections and finalize two options ready for residents to express their opinion of their favorite design option.

In this condo renovation we showed the board three carpet options, one in a tone on tone neutral, one in a neutral with a bit of an alternate neutral tone and one with a soft modern colour. From these, the carpet featuring a modern aqua background with champagne and dark charcoal accents was chosen. The pattern and color scheme on the carpet perfectly complemented the suite doors and existing elements that had to remain as they were. This coordination of new carpet and new wall vinyl really modernized and brightened up the entire corridor interior.

With this basic renovation, we provided our client with the much-needed facelift for their building. This is only one of the ways an ARIDO registered interior designer can help update a commercial space to best suit the client’s budget and accommodate their wants and needs.
